On Friday 6 September the Year One classes will be visiting the State Library of Western Australia to take part in a free Fun with Fairy Tales guided workshop which focuses on the genre of fairy tales and supports the Western Australian English and Digital Technologies curriculum. The workshop engages students in a range of common fairy tales and encourages them to work collaboratively to retell a well-known story, using props and an iPad.
The students will also participate in a self-guided activity in the children’s library, The Story Place, where they will explore a themed activity box on fractured fairy tales.
The students will be travelling by bus to the Library, leaving at 9am and returning to school by 12.45pm to eat lunch. Students are to wear their sports uniform and school hat. Please pack their drink bottle and recess in a disposable bag.
For this excursion we will require 5 parent helpers per class. Please see your child’s classroom teacher if you are available to help on the day.
Parent helpers chosen for the day are asked to make their own way to the State Library. The State Library is located in the Perth Cultural Centre, 25 Francis Street, Northbridge. Undercover parking is available directly beneath the building in the No 11 Perth City Council Car Park. Entrance to the carpark is from Francis Street.
